Sheikh Jobe is the Managing Director and Chief Technology & Operations Officer for Africa at Standard Chartered, where he plays a pivotal role in driving the bank’s technology strategy, operational excellence, and digital transformation agenda across the continent. With extensive leadership experience, he oversees technology infrastructure, operations, and innovation initiatives that support the bank’s growth and resilience in Africa. With over two decades of international banking experience, Sheikh has held senior leadership roles at global, regional, and country levels across technology, operations, operational risk management, financial crime compliance, audit, and branch banking. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer for West Africa and Chief Information Officer for Africa, where he provided strategic direction to technology and operations teams and strengthened the bank’s digital capabilities. During his tenure, he led the global rollout of Standard Chartered’s Advanced Commercial Banking System, now deployed across multiple markets, and has been instrumental in embedding innovation and enhancing operational resilience through technology-led solutions. Sheikh began his career at the National Audit Office of The Gambia before joining Standard Chartered in 1994, where he has built a distinguished career spanning multiple geographies, including Africa, Europe, and Asia. In recognition of his contributions to the financial services and technology sectors, he was inducted into a Technology Hall of Fame, highlighting his impact on digital transformation and innovation in banking across Africa. Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Sheikh is passionate about people development and philanthropy and is the founder of the Mboutou Trust Fund for Education and Development, supporting community advancement through education initiatives.
