Muhammad is a seasoned technology management professional with more than 21 years of IT experience in various roles and capacities. Muhammad is currently serving as the CIO for Africa Regional Operations (ARO) in Retail and Business Banking (RBB), providing leadership oversight and delivery of technology services to ten countries in sub-Saharan Africa. He is a seasoned technology management professional with extensive experience gained from serving in various leadership roles within the information technology sector and is passionate about leaving behind a sustainable legacy fulfilled by his active involvement in coaching and mentoring people in his personal and professional capacity. His education and practical application of expertise encompasses IT delivery across multiple industries including telecommunications, banking, and manufacturing, however he has spent the majority (13 years) of his dynamic career with Absa, serving in multiple roles including serving as the Head of Technology Managed Services (ARO). Prior to that, he served as Head of Technology RBB ARO and Head of Technology: Home Loans and Service Management. Driven by a passion for excellence, as a CIO Muhammad aims to deliver the highest standard of technology services and leadership oversight to Absa’s different markets in sub-Saharan Africa. Leading a talented and diverse team of people, he enjoys the collaborative process required to get everyone moving in unity as effectively as possible towards achieving desired objectives and takes great satisfaction from seeing sustained effort purposefully come together for success. As an ardent football fan and diehard Liverpool supporter Muhammad’s commitment to his favourite team is only surpassed by his devotion to his wife and 3 children, spending much of his free time and weekends in support of their numerous sporting passions and other extracurricular activities.
