Eileen Jessop is a senior digital and transformation leader with more than 30 years’ experience across healthcare, government, and complex public sector organisations. Most recently, she served as the first Chief Digital and Information Officer for Defence Medical Services, where she established and led a new enterprise digital function and was appointed Senior Responsible Owner for a Government Major Projects Portfolio (GMPP) programme delivering next-generation digital healthcare capabilities across Defence’s global operational footprint until April 2026. Under her leadership, the programme delivered the foundations for a future Defence electronic health record, including battlefield clinical capabilities, Defence-wide data platforms, secure content and archiving services, and the stabilisation of critical legacy infrastructure supporting frontline healthcare delivery. Before Defence, Eileen held senior digital leadership roles within the NHS, including at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, where she led large-scale digital transformation programmes spanning electronic health records, genomics, integrated care records, and data interoperability. She also initiated the development of an open cancer data standard to support global collaboration in cancer care and research. Eileen is an experienced board-level leader and a former non-executive member of the NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board. She currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust. She holds the Major Projects Leadership Academy qualification from the University of Oxford and is a committed coach and mentor to emerging digital and programme leaders across healthcare and government.
