Dr Denisha Jairam-Owthar is currently the Group Chief Information Officer for the Council for Medical Schemes of South Africa which regulates the Medical Sector. She has held a myriad of senior roles, both nationally and internationally, in Technology managing at a strategic levels the entire end to end value chain of ICT & Data Engineering teams: such as CIO roles and Group CIO roles across 5 different industries being: Taxation when she was at the South African Revenue Services, Banking when she was at Absa bank and Barclays London, Investment banking at Development Bank of Southern Africa, Utility Billing at the City of Johannesburg, Higher Education at Stellenbosch University and currently health at the Council for Medical Schemes. She was the prior Chief Director of ICT at the University of Stellenbosch, SA. She successfully led the oldest university in the country in its largest ICT digital transformation journey; being the first university in the country to place their entire Finance, HR and Supply Chain systems and student system on the cloud. She has an array of diverse experience at the helm of leading transformational technology and engineering. She has shown throughout her career that technology is agnostic of industry.
